This Summer 2026, we present you:

STEFAN SZCZESNY

Stefan Szczesny, born in 1951 in Munich, is a German painter and sculptor known for his bold, expressive style. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and a pivotal period in Paris, he shifted from abstraction to figurative art and became a key figure in the 1980s "Neue Wilde" movement.

Inspired by the Mediterranean and artists like Matisse and Picasso, Szczesny’s work often features vibrant nudes, lush landscapes, and still lifes. He has exhibited internationally and created large-scale public art, including murals for Expo 2000. He lives and works in Saint-Tropez and Berlin.

SIEGWARD SPROTTE

Siegward Sprotte occupies a singular place in twentieth-century German art. Painter, draftsman, watercolorist, and thinker, he approached nature not as a subject to be reproduced, but as a living field of perception. Born in Potsdam in 1913, Sprotte developed a practice marked by clarity, restraint, and philosophical depth.

His works invite slow looking. Landscapes, light, and atmosphere are often distilled into spare yet highly sensitive compositions, where gesture and color carry quiet intensity. Rather than overwhelming the eye, Sprotte’s art attunes it — proposing painting as both an act of observation and a form of contemplation.
